Edwards County is situated on the Edwards Plateau in Texas. Rocksprings serves as the county seat. The county was established in 1858 and formally constituted in 1883. It bears the name after Haden Edwards, a pioneer settler in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Edwards Aquifer and Edwards Plateau were named after the county due to their geographical location.
