Some places you see. Some places you feel.
Tucked away between Leakey and Vanderpool, 280± acres of rugged Hill Country come together in a secluded valley where the road disappears behind you, the hills close in, and everything around you suddenly feels a little quieter.
There’s a reason it’s called Shadowcreek.
As the sun drops behind the limestone cliffs, the home and creek fall into the shade of the hills. That's when the name makes sense.
Shadowcreek Ranch sits in the heart of a secluded valley between Vanderpool and Leakey, surrounded by limestone cliffs and tucked away from everything else. A strong, spring-fed creek runs directly through the valley in front of the home, while the surrounding terrain gives the ranch a level of privacy that's hard to find and hard to beat.
Leakey is approximately 11± miles east, while Vanderpool lies roughly 10± miles west, keeping restaurants, supplies, and everyday necessities within easy reach. Kerrville is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away, with San Antonio roughly 2 hours to the east.
A gated entrance off paved FM 337 leads into Shadowcreek Ranch, with a paved drive winding through the hillside to the improvements. Cut through the hillside and following the natural contours of the terrain, the drive winds deeper into the secluded valley.
The heart of Shadowcreek Ranch is where the home, creek, and cliffs all come together. The home sits between the hills, with the creek running directly in front and limestone cliffs rising on either side. It's quiet, private, and feels a long way from everything else.
Tall limestone cliffs surround the improvements, giving this part of the ranch a level of privacy that's hard to describe until you're standing there. Near the creek, open grassy areas sit between the hills, while steep slopes, deep draws, wooded hillsides, and exposed limestone shape the surrounding terrain.
The creek anchors the valley. From there, the land rises quickly, moving from open grass and creek-bottom vegetation into higher elevations and more rugged terrain. As you move across the property, the landscape continues to change, with open areas giving way to denser cover, steeper slopes, and limestone outcrops.
A strong, year-round creek runs the full width of Shadowcreek Ranch, with more than half a mile of both sides of the creek within the property. Fed by a powerful live spring, the creek moves through the valley with swimming holes, wading pools, boulders, limestone shelves, and several tributaries along the way.
The creek changes from one stretch to the next, with boulders and limestone shelves shaping the creek bed along the way. A water well adds another dependable water source for the property.
Live oaks and Spanish oaks shade the creek and valley, with aquatic ferns,
native grasses, vines, and other creek-bottom vegetation following the water
through the property. Away from the creek, native vegetation becomes
denser in some areas while remaining more open in others.
